Summer Programs
Beginning in the summer of 2009 Two Top started summer programs.
Dusty Wissmath the founder of the Dusty Wissmath Fly Fishing School at Whitetail
volunteered his equipment and knowledge to start an adaptive fly fishing
program. With the many reservoirs and lakes around Whitetail we have many
ideal places to fly fish. In addition, we have many places to kayak and
we have linked hands with Mike Dudash, a river guide and kayak instructor
with over twenty five years teaching experience. He trained our volunteer
staff on kayaking techniques, water safety and how to deal with groups
before we hit the water. Two Top is now offering beginning instruction
for anyone who would like to learn how to kayak. We work on the reservoirs
at Whitetail and the Indian Springs Wildlife Area Lake just a few miles
south of Whitetail on Blairs Valley Road. This area is a Maryland State
park and has excellent handicap accessibility.
In October, Two Top hosted the Capernaum Group from Silver Spring Maryland
for a kayak outing at Indian Springs Wildlife Area Lake. We had sixteen young
adult participants, and over twenty volunteers. Although it was October, we
had a perfect day with temperatures in upper 80’s and the water was still
warm. We spent several hours out on the water and then took a break for our
picnic lunch and then went back out on the water. Check out our photos.
